UNDER Project concludes First International Mobility in Orte, Italy
The first international mobility of the UNDER – Underground Navigators Exploring and Revealing project successfully concluded in Orte, Italy, from 28 to 31 May 2025. Hosted by ACe20, the mobility brought together participants and partner organisations from Malta, Hungary, the Czech Republic, and Italy for an immersive experience focused on underground heritage, tourism, and vocational learning.
Funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union, UNDER aims to strengthen professional skills, promote cultural heritage preservation, and foster European cooperation among small organisations managing underground sites.
During the four-day mobility, participants engaged in job shadowing activities at Orte Underground and the local Tourist Office, where they observed guided tours, heritage interpretation methods, and daily management practices related to underground tourism. The programme also included meetings with archaeologists and cultural heritage experts, visits to underground sites in Orte and Narni, and activities focused on communication, visitor engagement, and sustainable tourism.
The mobility provided participants with valuable opportunities to exchange experiences, develop practical skills, and strengthen intercultural dialogue. Young cultural operators, guides, and project coordinators were able to deepen their understanding of underground archaeology, historical preservation, and tourism management while creating new professional connections across Europe.
The first mobility laid the foundations for future cooperation between the partner organisations and highlighted the importance of experiential learning and European mobility in promoting cultural heritage and youth empowerment.
The UNDER project will continue with further activities and mobilities dedicated to work-based learning, sustainable tourism, and community development. Next stop: Sumeg (HU) September 2025!
