NESSIE is a successful initiative that is part of the CERV 2021-2027 program. Born out of an established partnership, the project focused on protecting the environment and natural and urban heritage. Sponsored by the Qala Local Council, NESSIE has worked to preserve the traditional urban and natural environment of Gozo Island, successfully integrating with the work carried out by local authorities and citizens' organizations.
An innovative aspect of the project has been its efforts to cooperate with partners in the European Union to promote citizen involvement and participation. NESSIE has contributed to the goals of the Future of Europe Conference, the European Green Deal and the New European Bauhaus, as well as supporting the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union. Through these actions, the project has worked to support sustainable development, democratic participation and environmental protection, contributing to the well-being of European citizens and the building of a greener and more inclusive future.
